Historic Architecture Tours

Getting cabin fever? Relief is in sight: our 2015 tour season begins in May!

Explore Madison’s historic neighborhoods, commercial districts, and the UW’s traditional campus with experienced and enthusiastic docents. Our tours have become a highlight for visitors and residents who want a deeper look at Madison’s cultural, architectural, and development history.

New tour for 2015 – Our new tour of the Orton Park neighborhood debuts this season. Explore a sampling of many different housing styles from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, anchored by this beloved park that once served as Madison’s first cemetery.

This season’s schedule features a tour every Saturday morning at 11 AM throughout the summer, and “Twilight Tours” on Thursdays at 6 PM.

Our tours are exterior. We do not go inside buildings.

Reservations: No reservations are required for scheduled tours. Simply show up at the starting point at the scheduled time. Please call ahead if you plan to bring a large group, so we can be sure to have enough docents available.

Specially arranged tours: We are happy to arrange private tours. The per person fee is $15. We require a non-refundable deposit of $10 per person; the $5 balance should be paid to the docent the day of the tour. Please call (608) 441-8864 for more information or to arrange a private tour. (Note: we will do our utmost to accommodate your party’s desired schedule, but times are ultimately dependent upon our docents’ availability).
