Our tours have ended for 2015, but we will be back in 2016!
Each year from May to September, the Madison Trust for Historic Preservation explores Madison, Wisconsin’s historic neighborhoods, commercial districts, and the University of Wisconsin’s traditional campus with experienced and enthusiastic docents. The tours have become a highlight for visitors and residents who want a deeper look at Madison’s cultural, architectural, and development history.
Past tours have included Mansion Hill District, Orton Park, State Street, King Street, and more.
General Tour Information:
Reservations: No reservations are required for scheduled tours. Simply show up at the starting point at the scheduled time. Please call or email ahead of time if you plan to bring a large group, so we can be sure to have enough docents available.
Costs: Tours are $10 for adults, $5 for students, and FREE for MTHP members. (Memberships start at $40. Student memberships are $25. Join online!)
Specially arranged tours: We are happy to arrange private tours. Please give us at least two weeks advance notice so we can make sure we can accommodate you. The per person fee is $15. We require a non-refundable deposit of $10 per person; the $5 balance should be paid to the docent the day of the tour. Please call (608) 441-8864 for more information or to arrange a private tour. (Note: we will do our utmost to accommodate your party’s desired schedule, but times are ultimately dependent upon our docents’ availability).
