The University of Wisconsin campus features a wide range of architecture. On Bascom Hill, where the University began, its oldest buildings and traditional campus made room, after World War II, for more recent buildings influenced by the Modern Movement.  On this tour, you’ll learn how the University grew from an idea to a vital campus and community.  This tour includes the University’s first building, and “the worst building in the history of American universities.” The tour meets at the Library Mall entrance to the Wisconsin Historical Society headquarters on the campus end of State Street.  Please be advised that this tour requires some strenuous walking on a steep hill.

After the tour, enjoy free ice cream at the UW Memorial Union.
