Introducing our new logo!

The Madison trust is thrilled to announce our new logo.

Last year, the Madison Trust worked with the amazing Zebradog to design our new logo. As we reflect on the last 50 years and look towards the next 50, this design is reflective of where we’ve come from (a nod to our former logo) and modernizes it as we look to the future of preservation. Read on to learn more about the design concept.

“As the loving and caregiving owner of a building recognized by the Madison Trust for Historic Preservation for "Outstanding Preservation Efforts" and a third generation Madison native, I was very proud to donate our professional services to help raise awareness for The Madison Trust. Your efforts to keep our city and community tied to our significant architectural stories is critical. Our past is indeed the guide to our collective future.

The strong metaphorical meanings of the Keystone were a guiding design inspiration for the logo. Like The Madison Trust, the architectural Keystone represents the center of a community of parts all placed together and structurally sound because of its being. You guys are the Keystone to our community. Without your efforts, we fail as a culture and have no base to build on.

Designing the word TRUST as the dominant word in (the alphabet soup of) your name was critical so that everyone seeing this logo would remember that one word.

TRUST, it exemplifies your mission, your vision and our belief in your efforts.”

- Mark Schmitz, founder of Zebradog

Our former logo image was a portion of the Camp Randall Memorial Arch. We thought it was important to reflect back to this logo as we designed our new logo.

The top image of our new logo is conceptualized from a keystone. Not only does this harken back to our former logo, but it also is an important part of a widely-used, historic architectural feature. The keystone is the component of an arch structure that is irreplaceable. We see this architectural feature in many varied styles in Madison (see below).

We also updated the font and brightened the colors while keeping the ‘Madison Trust’ words, as many of you know us by, front and center. The font used for ‘Trust’ is a modern serif version where the ‘R’ is supporting the ‘U’ to reflect that you can trust us to always support and advocate for preservation in our community.
